Recommended Listening: Ignite

I don’t remember if it was my friend Casey or my friend Dustin who first recommended the band Ignite to me, but when they said it was melodic hardcore with almost operatic vocals, I knew I had to give it a shot.  I’m glad I did.

Ignite is a hardcore punk band from Orange County, first formed in 1993.  Heavy touring created a large and fervent fan base across the world before they had any sort of major commercial success.  Their first commercially successful album came in 2000, with their most recent album, Our Darkest Days, released in 2006.  Ignite focuses on political and social issues heavily throughout both their music and their actions.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
