Mikael Hed, CEO at Rovio Mobile, the creators behind Angry Birds, and Peter Levinsohn, president of new media and digital distribution for Twentieth Century Fox, has announced today that Rovio Mobile will be partnering with Twentieth Century Fox to produce Angry Birds Rio.

According to the Press Release from Rovio and Fox, “In Angry Birds Rio, the original Angry Birds are kidnapped and taken to the magical city of Rio, where they eventually escape their captors and set out to to save their friends, Blu and Jewel – two rare macaws and the stars of the upcoming Fox motion picture, Rio. Like the incredibly-popular original edition, Angry Birds Rio will feature hours of gameplay, physics-based demolition challenges and loads of replay value – all with unique twists based on the highly-anticipated film.”

When Angry Birds Rio releases in March, it will feature 45 dedicated levels, and app updates will provide new updates.

Rio, one of the year’s most anticipated motion picture events, will be hitting theatres on April 15. To check out a sneak preview of Angry Birds Rio, check out a video Rovio and Twentieth Century Fox have released.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
