Freddy Krueger in Mortal Kombat? Why, that just makes so much damn sense!
One cannot say that they saw this coming, though I also think that one won’t really be complaining about it. Freddy Krueger, the terror of Elm Street, will turn his attention to Outworld and compete in Mortal Kombat come August 9th. The last of the four planned downloadable fighters, Freddy looks, from what we’ve seen in the video, pretty much like a take off of Kabal. Now note that I said, “looks like,” as I have not yet played as Freddy. Just making an observation here. Also, another observation. Why does Freddy have claw gloves on both hands?
Picking nits aside, Freddy looks pretty cool. His character design is based on the 2010 reboot version staring Jackie Earle Haley instead of the classic Robert Englund look. Does this bother you? It doesn’t really bother me. I dunno. I guess I’m just a pretty easy, laid back guy who takes his psychopathic dream killers competing in fights to the death as he gets them. Remember, Freddy comes August 9th for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. And hell, maybe if this does well we can get some other horror icons in the roster. Chucky taking down Shao Kahn? Yeah, that’d be pretty cool.
