Spider-Men is coming in June

Spider-Men is coming in June

This summer is going to be one hell of an interesting one for Spider-Man. Marvel’s greatest hero is already starting his possible greatest epic against the Sinister Six in Ends of the Earth, and with the film reboot coming out, how could it get more epic.

Two words: Spider-Men.

There is virtually no information about this, other than its name, the people working on it, and the teaser images.

Writing on it will be Brian Michael Bendis, author of a lot of Marvel’s major epic storylines like Secret Invasion and Seige, as well as the extremely successful Ultimate Spider-Man series. The art will be provided by Sara Pichelli, who took over artist duties on Ultimate Spider-Man after the death of that universe’s Peter Parker, and the rise of his successor, Mile Morales (who earned a lot of controversy due to replacing Peter, and being biracial). Due to that, the most prevalent theory would be that this is a crossover between the mainstream Marvel Universe’s Peter Parker, and the Ultimate ‘verse’s Miles Morales. If that were so, it’d be the first true crossover between the two universes, outside of the video game Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions.

I, however, have a second (and less likely) theory. This may be a new series focusing on the adventures of both Peter Parker and his clone, Kaine (now serving as the Scarlet Spider). The only tagline given for the teaser image is “This June- History will be made for the Marvel Universe”. With other details scarce (the official name of the book is Spider-Men #1, leading to questions about it being an event, a mini-series, or a new series), all I can say is it feels like Spider-Man is reaching once more for greatness. And believe me, I’ll be keeping you all in the loop as I find out details.

Here’s that teaser page one more time. When Marvel finally reveals who the other Spider-Man is, I’ll chime in with my thoughts.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
