E3 2012: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate

Like I said, my first look at the Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 trailer came with no knowledge of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate’s existence or storyline. I was certain that the warrior challenging Dracula at the end could be none other than Alucard, and as I did a bit of research, I discovered similar speculation revolving around a title called Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate. Now, Konami has given us a deeper insight into Mirror of Fate and how it ties into the tragic Belmont tale.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate starts off approximately a quarter of a century after the final events of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. The story starts with Trevor Belmont, the son of Gabriel and Marie, as he embarks on a quest of vengeance for the death of his mother at the hands of his father. Seeking Gabriel Belmont, he now discovers Dracula, and the battle between father and son is set. The game does not focus solely on Trevor, however, but broadens its scope to the chapters of time. Mirror of Fate places you in the shoes of multiple Belmonts across the ages as each of them battles their own incarnation of Dracula. I’m just going to put this out there: Simon Belmont.

From Dave Cox, title Producer and Head of Product Planning and Development for Konami:

With the enormous success of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, we wanted to provide fans with the next installment in the Lords of Shadow universe, utilizing all the capabilities that the new Nintendo 3DS platform has to offer. Two years later, we are proud to announce the highly anticipated Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, a stunning 3D action adventure title that will give players an unrivaled, intense handheld gaming experience, while shedding light on the lineage and true destiny of the Belmont family.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is a Nintendo 3DS exclusive title, due out this fall.
