E3 2012: Harmonix Announces Dance Central 3

If rhythm is a dancer, then call me rhythm. Oh, snap! Now that I feel incredibly old for making a musical reference that only about 20% of you will understand, let’s get to the point! Last October, about a week before my 29th birthday, Dance Central 2 was released to critical acclaim. Today, at the Microsoft E3 press conference down in sunny, clear skies Los Angeles, CA, Dance Central 3 was announced. It’s coming to Xbox 360 and Kinect this fall, so get your dancing shoes shined!

What is Harmonix giving us in Dance Central 3 that sets it apart from Dance Central 2? How about 8-person multiplayer? While there’s still no word on the possibility of online multiplayer, with friends battling each other beyond leaderboards from the comfort of their own separate living rooms, Dance Central 3 is introducing a new mode called Crew Throwdown. Crew Throwdown is a team battle mode that supports up to 4v4. The mode works for performances, dance battles, and mini-games (such as rhythm-tracking in Keep the Beat and head-to-head routine creation in Make Your Move).

Dance Central 3 will feature over 40 tracks, including:

  • 50 Cent – In Da Club
  • Cali Swag District – Teach Me How to Dougie
  • Cobra Starship ft. Sabi – You Make Me Feel…
  • E.U. – Da’ Butt
  • Edward Maya & Bika Jigulina – Stereo Love
  • Gloria Gaynor – I Will Survive
  • Marcia Griffiths – Electric Boogie
  • Usher ft. Will.I.Am – OMG
  • Usher – Scream
  • Van McCoy – The Hustle

As with Dance Central 2, your Dance Central and Dance Central 2 tracks can be imported to Dance Central 3 by either making a purchase on XBLM or by entering your code included with purchase of the aforementioned titles.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
