First off, if you haven’t watched season 5 of Dexter then stop reading. There will be spoilers. Instead, go read the Assassin’s Creed:Brotherhood review or the review for Bakery Story for the iPhone. Savvy mate? Alright, if you have seen then let us continue. Last night was the season finale to Dexter’s fifth season and, in my honest opinion, I found it to be rather disappointing. The entire season was a series of ups and downs for me and at the end, I just didn’t feel the pay off, well, paid off.

The Social Network is one of the year’s best films. The dialogue is razor sharp, the acting is top notch, and the music is visceral and unsettling. And what else can you expect when the music is done by Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Atticus Ross (frequent NIN collaborator, member of Trent’s How To Destroy Angels, and composer The Book Of Eli score) ? Nu-metal is an ugly term to many, especially rock purists. Like every fad though, it had it’s time in the limelight and has since faded. Linkin Park was one of the last successful bands in the genre until they decided for better or for worse, it was time to ditch nu-metal and grow up. Well, before I continue, let me just say that I am a child of the nu-metal era and used to be a massive Linkin Park fan. As I got older and discovered other music though, I simply lost interest in them. Their last album, Minutes To Midnight, was an interesting direction but ultimately I just didn’t care for it as a whole. Really, you could say I was “over it.” Read the full story

OK, I have a confession my little monsters: I don’t really listen to podcasts. I used to listen to SModcast, but I just sort of lost interest in them altogether. Hell, I even had my own podcast once, but in the end I’m just really not much of a podcast person. Enter the sultry podcast, A Slut’s Guide. Read the full story

So let me get this straight. People love to bitch about how Hollywood sucks & how everyone is tired of the same old and how nothing original comes out, but when a movie that is dripping with originality is unleashed, what does the public do? They fuckin’ go see Vampires Suck. I hate Twilight but not enough to sit through another shitty spoof movie.

I recently had the privilege of seeing Deftones live in concert for the second time in my short life. My first ever concert was seeing Godsmack with Deftones opening for them in 2001. At that time the only songs I knew were Change (In The House Of Flies) & My Own Summer (Shove It) and that show was my gateway into the ethereal & brutal music of the band. This time I knew every song as I have all their albums.

Up was a film that hit me hard in the gut.By far their most mature & emotional film. The highlight was the film’s “mini movie” in the beginning known as the Married Life montage. In it we follow young Carl growing old with his wife Ellie. There are no words. Just the beautiful score & a moving montage. Read the full story

Wall-E. Pixar took us to ground level & beyond with A Bug’s Life. They took us to the depths of the ocean with Finding Nemo. And now we venture into space with one of the most loveable characters ever created. Read the full story

Pixar’s next feature took a rather disgusting concept and made a very brilliant movie out of it. The idea of a rat cooking your food is pretty repulsive but Pixar makes it work. Ratatouille was yet another effort that enthralled audiences both young old, but this is the one I feel was more enjoyed by the older crowd.

And Pixar continues it’s magical streak with one of my favorite films of all time. Not just animated,in general. The Incredibles is an astonishing piece of work that it’s cue from the superhero lore (one obvious inspiration being the mighty Watchmen). Read the full story
