Review: The Simpsons’ “Donnie Fatso”

For a couple of weeks now I have mentioned how recent Simpsons episodes have been similar to the great episodes of the past. This week, this trend continues, with poor results.

Dexter Season 5 Finale Impressions

First off, if you haven’t watched season 5 of Dexter then stop reading. There will be spoilers. Instead, go read the Assassin’s Creed:Brotherhood review or the review for Bakery Story for the iPhone. Savvy mate? Alright, if you have seen then let us continue. Last night was the season finale to Dexter’s fifth season and, in my honest opinion, I found it to be rather disappointing. The entire season was a series of ups and downs for me and at the end, I just didn’t feel the pay off, well, paid off.

Review: The Simpsons “The Fight Before Christmas”

It’s Christmas time in Springfield, and the results are great. The show was divided into several mini plots (a la Treehouse of Horror) and each one delivered a good story and some laughs.

Review: The Simpsons’ “How Munched is That Birdie in the Window”

Wow that title is a mouthful. This week’s episode, “How Munched is That Birdie in the Window”  focused on Bart, his dog, and a bird. This episode failed to continue the very strong line of episodes this season, with a tired plot and fewer funny jokes.

Smallville Season 10 – Patriot – Review

Smallville finally seems to have hit its stride, with another solid episode in a row – this time even bringing back an old face from the murmurings of the Justice League. It’s not arbitrary, either, as the series has been ramping up the main theme of this final season: the clash of law and ‘vigilantes,’ a theme that is always a logical step to take in a more realistic look at how we as a society would react. Spoiler discussion ahead after the break.

The Walking Dead: Vatos Review

With a much stronger focus on the tension and horror of the situation our survivors find themselves in, this week’s episode is the polar opposite of last week’s in everything but quality. In that category, this episode might just surpass it. Read the full story

Review: The Simpsons’ “The Fool Monty”

This week’s episode, “The Fool Monty” puts Mr. Burns into the spotlight, which is never a bad thing in my opinion. A good plot and great jokes followed, making it one of my favorite episodes this season.

The show’s couch gag was a spoof of Avatar, which I thought was a little late, as that movie came out a year ago. Anyway, onto the plot.

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
