If you care enough to pay attention to anything I have to say, you will be well aware of my level of excitement for Ubisoft’s upcoming revitalization of the Driver series, Driver: San Francisco. I’ve had my hands on it twice since May, and am simply jittery with anticipation for August 30th September 6th (another week of waiting). To torture me further, Ubisoft has felt it necessary to release a multiplayer trailer reminding me of what I had, and what I now await most eagerly. Read the full story

Dull, drab, mundane: three words that don’t describe Child of Eden in the slightest. On the contrary, Tetsuya Mizuguchi and the rest at Q Entertainment deliver a stunning audiovisual experience with a wide spectrum of colors that would make any rainbow jealous, and music that is so heart-pumping that a raver would feel at home.

Some movie-based video games seek to recreate the plot of the movie itself, which I feel is dangerous ground to tread. Some tell a story completely separate from the movie, which, as long as it doesn’t contradict the movie it’s based on, can be good. Some tell a story that bridges the gap between one movie and another, which can provide a great deal of fill-in, which is always entertaining for a geek like me. Some tell a story that fills in gaps in time within the movie itself, which, when pulled off correctly, can be more entertaining than the rest, because you get a more complete story than just one or the other. Captain America: Super Soldier is a game that takes place during Captain America: The First Avenger, as one of the montage-missions to destroy Hydra bases during WWII. Did SEGA and Next Level Games manage to pull it off, or is it just another in a long line of disappointing comic-movie game adaptations? Read the full story

2011′s Xbox LIVE Summer of Arcade had a strong opening last week with Bastion. Tomorrow, the second entry in this year’s Summer of Arcade goes live: From Dust, Ubisoft’s “spiritual heir” to Populous. Created by Eric Chahi, creator of early 90s classic Out of This World, From Dust is at its core a strategy/puzzle game, solved by using a first-person god-like perspective to manipulate the environment as needed. Do From Dust’s god-like puzzles manage to keep the momentum that Bastion brought to Summer of Arcade going? Read the full story

2009 was a pretty horrible year for me. In the course of one weekend I managed to lose my entire family. One was through death, and the others were through a reason I won’t get into, but it was beyond my control and completely blindsided me. To then be only 26 and have no family, no identity… it shocked me to the core. To this day I don’t think I have fully recovered from it, as the loss seems to become magnified on special days like birthdays and holidays, but there is one thing that has been able to help: Assassin’s Creed.

With less than 4 months until we see the end of Ezio Auditore, today Ubisoft released the trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Embers, an animated short film to accompany copies of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. While the trailer is a bit of a downer, it does answer some questions that I’ve had for a few months.

GoldenEye is one of the best games of all time. This status really isn’t in dispute anymore, seeing as it’s been remade and now re-remade. You’ve gotta figure that somebody out there must really want more versions of this specific game. Well, they’ve got it. The remake of GoldenEye is coming to the big high def consoles and we have some screen shots, along with a trailer, direct from Comic Con to show you how things are progressing.
