I’m a massive fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. My wife may claim that she’s a bigger fan, but I was a fan first, so nyah nyah to her. I fell in love with Assassin’s Creed while playing as Altair, up until the penultimate battle which will forever be ingrained in my memory as complete and utter bullshit. While I still love the first Assassin’s Creed, I could not imagine going back and playing it again after having played Ezio’s games. The level of improvement in the free-running mechanics, world interaction, travel, and more was simply stunning. Three games were released on the Assassin’s Creed II engine, and each of them seemed to feature some form of improvement over the last while working within the same development environment. Assassin’s Creed III, then, with its new engine, must be as much of a revelation now as Assassin’s Creed II was when it was released, no? Read the full story

Assassin’s Creed III comes out in exactly one week, and Ubisoft has far from relaxed their marketing machine leading into this final stretch. Come hell or high water, you’re going to KNOW about Assassin’s Creed III (even if you’re going to receive a launch-day surprise about Just Dance: Disney Party – come on, Ubi, where are your priorities?). The latest addition to the Assassin’s Creed III junket is an interactive trailer that blends gameplay trailers with a choose-your-own-adventure…adventure. Take a look at the walkthrough trailer, then head into the interactive trailer that follows it on the page. Read the full story

With over half of the month gone, we’re left with exactly two weeks to the day until Assassin’s Creed III hits store shelves. Continuing to build and foster anticipation and excitement for this flagship title, Ubisoft has released a trailer displaying some of the characters, locations, abilities, and more available in the Assassin’s Creed III multiplayer. From classic free-for-all Deathmatch combat to team/co-op based modes like Wolf Pack and Domination, Assassin’s Creed III’s multiplayer offering seems to be an enhancement and improvement over past franchise entries, and may result in a larger and more passionate multiplayer community for the series. Assassin’s Creed III is less than three weeks away, and I am finding the anticipation more and more difficult to bear with each passing day. When it shows up at my door, I’m going to be glued to my TV for hours/days running through the single player experience (not much of a multiplayer guy). As new information is released about the game, my anticipation only grows. Take, for example, today’s look at Connor using the weapons available to him.
I think my favorites will be the bow/arrow and the rope dart. Read the full story

I have a feeling October is going to be one of the best all-around months for gaming this year in terms of quality experiences. Not least on that list is Ubisoft’s upcoming PlayStation Vita title, Assassin’s Creed III Liberation. The first full-featured Assassin’s Creed experience on a handheld device, Liberation takes place during the same time as Ubisoft’s other shanking simulator, Assassin’s Creed III. Take a look at this newly released developer diary for Liberation, and get even more excited for what is sure to be one of the must-have titles for the unfortunately floundering PlayStation Vita: Read the full story

A novel concept that seems to be gaining steam, the DLC Season Pass has caught Ubisoft’s eye, and will now be offered for their upcoming freerunner platformer Assassin’s Creed III. Ubisoft’s Season Pass will cost 2400MSP / $29.99. The purchase covers the first six months of DLC after the game’s launch on October 30th, and will provide a 25% discount over the total cost of purchasing all five of the planned DLC pieces individually. One can take this as a confirmation that within the first six months of launch, the full value of DLC will be released and available. Included in this Season Pass is the game’s first announced DLC, The Tyranny of King George. An “alternate reality” scenario, The Tyranny of King George provides an all new single player experience and multipler content in a world where George Washington takes the throne of America. When gaming conventions and events get closer, it always seems “FREE FOOD” is brought up at some point. PAX Prime 2012 is no different. An email has come in telling attendees where to get some free food for a short time at this year’s PAX. Sadly, I won’t be there to charge the food truck, but I know that some of you reading will be, so it’s with you in mind that I put this out there. Now, on top a food truck giving out free food, would you be even more excited to hear that it’s Assassin’s Creed III themed? Check out the details below, and don’t forget to thank the hard workers giving you free food! Read the full story

In the lead-up to Gamescom, and at Gamescom itself, trailers were being pumped out by the handful. Rather than put up a separate post for each trailer with a few sentences introducing it, I decided that this time, I’d just put all of the trailers up at once and save both me and you a shitload of time. Below, you will find trailers for Borderlands 2, Rayman Legends, Assassin’s Creed III, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation, Star Trek, and Rocksmith. There are definitely more trailers from the past week or so that we’ve missed, but these are some of those more relevant to my interests, which is what I know best. Read the full story

Man, this one went ALL OVER the place. For the first time since all the way back in Episode 023, our Internet famous friend from the Twitters joined us for a gabfest. In Episode 040 of Marooners’ Talk, titled “Assassin’s Creed III: Zombio Auditore’s Revolutionary Adventures,” we discuss the TOTALLY SERIOUS possibility of Assassin’s Creed III DLC that features the reanimation of Ezio Auditore’s corpse during the revolutionary war. Ubisoft, if you’re reading/listening, the ball is now in your court. We recorded nearly two hours, with a change in topic around the one hour mark, so we have two episodes out of this weekend’s efforts. Episode 040, presented here, ends abruptly, and picks up immediately in Episode 041, which will be posted later this week or early next week. Read the full story
