This year’s XBLA Summer of Arcade promotion came to a close with last week’s release of Dust: An Elysian Tail, which was an absolutely refreshing and beautiful title. While this event, like most events, had its weak spots, it performed admirably overall. A blast from the past, an adaptation and improvement on a popular aviary mobile game, a game about zombies that didn’t add to the oversaturation of zombies, a multiplayer only title with an interesting concept, and one man’s dream game come to life all contributed in one way or another to the success (and success it was) of this year’s promotion. Now, with our recent string of giveaways and contests, it may seem odd that we’ve only given away one Summer of Arcade game. For the past few days, I’ve been playing nothing but Deadlight, and I’ve definitely been enjoying myself a lot. Developed by Tequila Works and published by Microsoft Studios, Deadlight is the third title in this year’s XBLA Summer of Arcade promotion. There has been a major oversaturation of the zombie market over the past few years, but when a game does it right, the oversaturation doesn’t come into play. With Deadlight, see what would happen if a zombie outbreak occurred in Seattle.

We’re getting closer and closer to this year’s Summer of Arcade promotion for Xbox LIVE, which will highlight five titles as usual. During the Microsoft presser at this year’s E3, the titles included in the 2012 Summer of Arcade promotion were revealed, and today, Major Nelson has revealed the release dates and prices for each of the five promoted titles.
