A while back I saw trailers announcing that Deadman Wonderland was coming to DVD. I was extremely excited, and I knew deep down that a copy would eventually make its way into my hands from FUNimation. With that in mind, I skipped it on Cartoon Network’s Toonami, and I’m glad I did, because owning the most badass series to date is pretty awesome. Honestly, I wasn’t sure what to think at first, but it looked more and more badass with each trailer that was released. It is now December, and I’ve had the chance to watch the entire series. Find out how I liked it below. Read the full story

I’ve said it many times before, but I’m going to say it again: I absolutely love watching anime, whether it’s via Netflix, Hulu, or via Blu-Ray/DVD. In the pile next to me of recently watched anime is Strike Witches 2, the second season of the Strike Witches anime. After watching the first season on Netflix, I was in shock at the open ending, not knowing that a second season was being published by FUNimation. The day I opened a package to find Strike Witches 2 inside was definitely a good day. Read the full story

I love anime. I can sit down for hours and hours simply watching, whether it’s the latest release or something from my past. Most recently, I watched Shangri-La, published by FUNimation Entertainment. Shangri-La is a 24 episode series that sees global warming finally reach its breaking point. The setting is the 21st century, where there is now a carbon emission trade market in order to control the effects of global warming (which doesn’t sound like that bad of an idea for how things stand now). An earthquake has destroyed a large chunk of Japan, resulting in it later being transformed by the world into a massive jungle to help regulate carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. We start our adventure with Kuniko Jojo, a young girl recently released from a female detention center. Read the full story

WINNERS ANNOUNCED: Congratulations to Samuel H. for winning the grand prize, and Brian Lepak for winning the secondary prize!
I’m not hip with it, when it comes to anime. I have my favorites (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Trigun, Berserk, Dragon Ball Z, etc.), and I do enjoy new anime experiences, but I just haven’t got the time to keep up with the incredibly wide range of variety available in the genre. It should come as no surprise, then, that when I first heard of Oblivion Island…I thought of The Elder Scrolls. It is, as I have discovered, something quite different, however, and something that definitely has me intrigued. Keep an eye out for a review of the series from Andrew. In the meantime, why not win a copy of the series and a couple of extras for yourself? We are offering one grand prize and one normal prize. The grand prize includes a copy of the anime, a signed cast poster, and a mirror fan, while the normal prize receives a copy of the anime. Read the full story

I got my hands on an early review copy of the upcoming anime series Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, and let me tell you, I was blown away. Still to this moment, when I think about the entire series, I picture it as an absolutely perfect show for Adult Swim, if it ever gets the chance. Trust me when I say that viewers new to the series will drop their jaws. The series is vulgar, naughty, dirty, raunchy, shocking, and any other number of adjectives that describe how what you hear and see will blow your mind. With your usual anime title, you expect a grand adventure and a few laughs. Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt doesn’t hold back from cursing, battles, sexual remarks and innuendo, and more.

As I’ve said before, video game movies can be pretty rough. At times, a movie based on a video game may have a terribly translated story, while at other times, it can cross over from one medium to the other beautifully. This time, we’re looking at Tales of Vesperia, a well known Xbox 360 RPG that I’ve played in the past. The movie version, Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike, doesn’t take its main story from the video game itself, but takes its cues from the series as a whole. Read the full story

SpiritHoods is well known for their animal-inspired faux-fur accessories. For those of you who are unfamiliar with what a SpiritHood is, take a look at the picture of me below. That, my friends, is a SpiritHood, and it’s pretty awesome. I’m a huge fan of the accessories that SpiritHoods creates, as are many of my friends. Who doesn’t like the occasional cute thing, especially if it’s comfortable, and who wouldn’t want to support ProBlue, an animal conservation charity, with certain SpiritHoods purchases?

When it comes to the Dragon Age Universe, I’ll admit that I never really got too into the video games. After watching Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, an animated movie from FUNimation and BioWare releasing Tuesday, May 29th, I have a feeling that’s going to change. When I first heard about this movie, I was really interested in seeing how it turned out, in spite of my lack of experience with the rest of the game universe. As I’ve said before, movies based on video games are an area where you must tread lightly. In this case, a great job was done, and my worries seem to have been unfounded. Read the full story

Let’s say one day people start dying for no real reason at all in a city you’ve lived in for quite some time. It ranges from friends, other families, a few new people in town, and maybe even other towns nearby. What would you do? Is this an epidemic, or is it something else? Would you stay in the area or leave right away? I recently finished the entire series of the anime Shiki, and boy do I have to say that I enjoyed the series. I’ll admit here that at first I was confused, but after some time I grew to enjoy the series as it pulled me in more and more. Read the full story
