Let’s just assume that you’re social enough to have people visit your home on a semi-regular basis. With that assumption firmly in place, surely you want some way to protect your kickass giant Nintendo controller table from the vile and destructive forces of condensation? Let ThinkGeek take care of you with their Portal 2 Warning Sign coasters. Eight coasters in all, each one depicts a different warning sign from the game. The most important warning they provide, though, is to your guest: Don’t go condensating on my table, or I’ll drop a Companion Cube on your head. Read the full story

It may not be something that we all think about often, but looking back over some of gaming’s notable heroes, there have been those whom have been very vocal about their ambitions and those who’ve played it quietly and cool. How does that affect our perceptions of those characters, what impact does it have on the way we perceive the games we play and is one better than the other? Well, looking at both in one go is going to be a bit tiring, so let’s do one for the time being: The Silent Protagonist. Read the full story

This years’ offering at E3 by Razer contained a little of their current offerings with a little of some interesting new devices. I’ll be highlighting their new products, including new mice, keyboards, headsets and even discuss the Switchblade project, which holds much promise. Fans of the Portal or Star Wars franchises will be catered to quite nicely with the peripherals on offer.

Just a few months ago, I called the XBLA version of Torchlight the most fun I’d had gaming so far in 2011. Portal 2 dethroned it, and I’m afraid that this fall’s Neverwinter is going to bump it slightly more, but none of this changes the fact that Torchlight will still be one of my top 2011 games. At E3, I was privileged enough to sit down and play through one of the random events (that was not so random for the sake of the demonstration) that make up Torchlight II’s explorable overworld, and I had an absolute blast. You know how I feel about Portal 2. It’s the only game I’ve given a perfect score (and may, in fact, be the only game that we, as a whole, have given a perfect score to, though some others have come tantalizingly close). The only imperfect thing about it is that there weren’t more test chambers, gameplay modes, or leaderboards. If ONLY there were some way to add those features post-release…wait, what? DLC for Portal 2 has been announced? Read the full story

I spent the latter half of this past Saturday humming random bars from Jonathan Coulton’s brilliantly written ending credits song for the original Portal, Still Alive (We do what we must, because we can…)* After a handful of bars, my wife turned to me and asked, with more than a hint of exasperation, “Am I going to have to listen to you humming that all weekend?” I regretfully informed her that, in the words of the Magic 8-ball, all signs pointed to yes, and apologized before breaking into a particularly stunning rendition (if I do say so myself) of the song from the beginning. Why was I in such rare form this weekend? Portal 2 was in my 360, and my controller was in my hands. Read the full story

Not only is that a rather clever headline, but it’s the truth. The PS3 is the first console to have Steam support, Portal 2 is how you get it, and we have the details here.

Portal 2 is almost a month away and Valve wants to make sure you don’t forget it! Coming soon to TVs everywhere are GLaDOS and her robot friends in a new trailer commercial for the much-anticipated sequel to the highly-revered Portal. I’m a sucker for cute things, and these robots are definitely to my liking.

I have seen some Portal 2 stuff at PAX. My friends, Aperture Science is back and doing more science-y things that will generally end badly for you. And by badly I mean really well. And by really well I mean really fun. And by really fun I mean…well, that’s it. It’s fun.

Why, indeed? Episode 007 of the critically acclaimed (not really) Marooners’ Talk podcast, titled “GIR! Why was there bacon in the soap?!” is done and ready for your listening pleasure! This episode again features the dulcet tones of Chris and Lindsey only, since none of our writers like us enough to chat with us about cool stuff for an hour (insert sad face so sad that a simple emoticon could not hope to convey the truly Homeric sadness felt at this abandonment here).
