If you are a PC gamer, you probably live on Steam. Valve’s little engine that could has made PC gaming more affordable and overwhelming than ever. I am almost exclusively a PC gamer and as I look at my Steam library I am overwhelmed by the amount of content I own. Steam offers constant sales on games, especially around holidays, and those of us that are always on the go can miss these sales. Now, Steam’s mobile app for smart phones has made its way out of its fledgling beta and into full release. You can chat with friends, browse sales and the full catalog and edit your wish list. Now, on lunch at work, you can blow 50 bucks on a game and have it waiting for you when you get home. It may not be perfect yet, but it seems this is a must have app for PC gamers. As some of you may know, Valve released their first attempt at a mobile version of their online storefront, Steam. Potential users are able to download the app for either Android or iOS from their respective marketplace but be forewarned, this is only a beta. Users are able to enter their names in the beta pool by simply attempting to log in with their steam account but fear not, I’ve been lucky enough to get into the beta and it is good. Steam has become one of the most recognizable and respected digital distribution platforms in video games. From its ease of use to its shiny interface, and from its wide selection to its wallet busting sales and deals, PC and Mac gamers, for the most part, love Steam for buying and managing their games, as well as building a community of friends and competitors.
