The first of this year’s House Party titles, Warp is an incredibly complex and deep adventure that metaphorically addresses a plethora of key societal and political issues within the guise of experimentation on a captured alien in a secret underwater laboratory. Free will, gender and race equality, political corruption, and more all make appearances in the most intelligent game I think ever produced. Warp is, truly, not only the game of our generation, but the game of our species. Read the full story

You know, it’s been a pretty slow week. Nothing new has really happened, no big events or releases…not much to talk about, really. That brings us to Episode 18 of Marooners’ Talk. “Handhelds are dead, long live handhelds!”, as the title may suggest, is an hour long discussion of holding hands, the social stigma attached to holding hands, and our sincere and erstwhile desire to promote the widespread acceptance of hand holding in all its forms. Too many people are letting things get in the way of hand holding. Primarily to blame is the advent of mobile technology, like the iPhone and more recently the PlayStation Vita. If people are always playing on their mobile devices, how can they dedicate solid time to holding hands with friends, family, and strangers? Read the full story

June 26th, 2012. This is the day when a seemingly open-world Spider-Man adventure makes its way back to our screens. It’s been a long time since the wonderful experience of Spider-Man 2, and I’m desperately hoping that The Amazing Spider-Man can recreate that feeling. Part of that comes from the first revelation of what kind of villains we can expect to face in the upcoming title. Hopefully with many more to follow, the first announcement is…RHINO! One thing I was really worried about leading up to the launch of the PlayStation Vita was that developers would use the new features and functionality of the hardware in gimmicky and unnecessary ways. So far, I have been pleasantly surprised with the launch titles and their sense of control and direction when approaching the Vita hardware’s capabilities. One title that looks like it is going to fit in well is Sumioni: Demon Arts, coming to the Vita “this spring.” Read the full story

I have never played the original Alan Wake. I have not tried the demo, I have not rented or borrowed the game, I have not had the game, in any format, within the confines of my home, or even in my hand as a possible purchase at a store. I’m not really a fan of horror or thriller games in general, which is why Alan Wake never really held any interest for me. Now, with Alan Wake’s American Nightmare making its way onto consoles as part of this year’s House Party event for XBLA, I have finally played in the shoes of Alan Wake. I can review this game in one sentence: Playing Alan Wake’s American Nightmare makes me want to buy and play the original Alan Wake. Read the full story

Man, I typed in that post title and suddenly Pearl Jam started blaring in my head. Thanks, Ubisoft, for giving me something nice to hum while I type. Shoot Many Robots, the demiurge title being published next month by Ubisoft (yes, release dates have been announced, and I’ll get to them shortly), started as a prototype back in January of 2009. Since then, the game has made leaps and bounds in its development, leaving behind its physics puzzle roots to become a fast paced shoot ‘em up. Read the full story

Ubisoft is adding catchphrase after catchphrase to their upcoming title, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. First, only the dead fight fair. Now, get ready to believe in ghosts. In the first episode of a three episode series, titled “Believe in Ghosts,” Ubisoft brings in former Navy SEAL sniper/scout Richard “Mack” Machowicz to impress upon us the importance of stacking the odds in your favor. With stories of real Future Soldiers performing incredible feats played out in the eyes of the game, this should prove to be an interesting and entertaining series. Read the full story

Yesterday, CD Projekt RED released a teaser trailer for their upcoming Xbox 360 version of their hit 2011 PC game, The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. Last year, this RPG turned heads so fast I’m surprised CD Projekt RED didn’t have to defend itself against multiple whiplash lawsuits. At E3 2011, less than a month after the release of The Witcher 2 on PC, CD Projekt RED announced that they would be bringing the game to Xbox 360, with all of the additional free content that PC players could expect to receive up until the release of the Xbox 360 version. Hitman: Absolution is definitely a title that many people are looking forward to this year. The Hitman series has a very devout following, and Square Enix has started a series of videos and interviews focused on expanding the game’s background and characters for those fans. In Absolution, Diana Burnwood returns as the longtime handler for the series’ protagonist, Agent 47. Let’s take a closer look at Diana, and hear what Marsha Thomason, the actress behind Diana Burnwood, has to say. Read the full story

A couple of weeks ago, we saw the announcement for the Poor Man’s Twisted Metal, for lack of a better term. With five different vehicle types available in the game, The Scout class is the first one to be debuted.
