During this holiday season, stores and companies will have to deal with many exchanges, many returns, and many disgruntled consumers. When a company creates a product, there will always be problems or issues, and that is why customer service exists. I’ve had my fair share of horrible experiences over the years, but I’ve also had some positive ones that are worth noting.
Sadly the bad outweigh the good, and it makes me wonder why providing a positive experience is so difficult for some.

A World of Keflings comes out in two days, so I’m sure you’re all wondering why I’m reviewing A Kingdom for Keflings, a game that has been out on XBLA for a little over two years. Well, the answer is rather simple. We don’t have a review for A Kingdom for Keflings on the site (shocking, I know), and it seriously deserves some love.

I am an experienced time traveler. Unfortunately, triggering my travels through time is beyond my conscious control. I must rely on external factors to throw me into the past. Yesterday, one such external factor threw me back to an arcade in Oklahoma City in the early 1990s. Yesterday, I picked up my Xbox 360 controller and played the Backbone Entertainment’s XBLA release of Konami’s classic 1992 side-scrolling beat-em-up arcade game, X-Men. The highest praise I can give this game is that it is exactly how I remember it being over 15 years ago. When I sat and started playing last night, I felt like a kid in an arcade again. 2010 has been an excellent year for Platinum Games, with the North American releases of Bayonetta and Vanquish providing me some of the most memorable gaming I have had the pleasure of experiencing in a very long time. Now that they’ve reached the end of their four-game publishing deal with SEGA, what comes next for the studio that has made itself very near and dear to my heart? Well, obviously, potentially extending their partnership with SEGA for one more game! According to Alan Pritchard, executive VP of Sales and Marketing for SEGA, a fifth title from Platinum Games and SEGA will be announced! Read the full story

The holidays are always an interesting time for people. You meet up with family, learn about different cultures and rituals, do an incredible amount of traveling, and of course, end up delayed in all your affairs (like writing a weekly review). But I’m abnormal from most of the people I know. I prefer Halloween to Christmas. While I love the feeling of goodwill and family that the latter brings, there’s just something more appealing about costumes, candies, and scares. That, and there are better movies on Halloween. So it’s no wonder my favorite holiday movie would be The Nightmare Before Christmas. Read the full story

I realize I’ll probably draw some scorn for this, but I never really got into Geometry Wars. There was just something about it that turned me off, and I’m not entirely sure what it was. I have a sneaking suspicion that it was how enemies could spawn anywhere on the screen, instead of coming from a predictable location. I loved the graphics, and I loved the soundtrack, but that just wasn’t enough for me. So, as with Decimation X3, I went into Score Rush with skepticism and caution. Read the full story

I love old games. I generally dislike attempts at remaking old games, or reusing the mechanic of old games, because it is hardly ever an improvement on the memory and feel of the original game. Incidentally, I feel the same about TV shows and movies, but that’s off topic. Back on topic, a simple, classic game like Space Invaders is not the kind of game I would expect to be remade with any significant improvement upon the brilliant simplicity of the original. The images are iconic; the gameplay was at times easy, at times excruciatingly and infuriatingly difficult; the memory is treasured. I must admit, I approached Decimation X3 with some skepticism and caution, as it is undeniably reminiscent of Space Invaders. Read the full story
