Review: Deadlight (XBLA)

For the past few days, I’ve been playing nothing but Deadlight, and I’ve definitely been enjoying myself a lot. Developed by Tequila Works and published by Microsoft Studios, Deadlight is the third title in this year’s XBLA Summer of Arcade promotion. There has been a major oversaturation of the zombie market over the past few years, but when a game does it right, the oversaturation doesn’t come into play. With Deadlight, see what would happen if a zombie outbreak occurred in Seattle.

Black Ops II Pushes Boundaries

When it comes to the Call of Duty franchise I have mixed feelings. Some of these feelings are good, and others somewhat bad. We’ve already heard the news that Call of Duty: Black Ops II will be set in the year 2025 which will allow players to see new weaponry, robotics, and so much more. Read the full story

Review: AMY (XBLA)

Imagine, if you will, an atmospheric, moody game where you are given the role of a woman looking after a gifted young girl in a world suddenly overrun by zombies and other monsters. Then make the first level of the game impossibly dark, make the characters incredibly slow, give them the AI of a caterpillar, along with giving the main two characters telepathic powers. This is the premise of AMY; at least that’s what this rather promising game gave me once I started playing it. Read the full story

Retro Review: Resident Evil 2 (PSX)

Ah, I remember getting this game from Santa Claus when I was 9 years old. I remember thinking later on that he must have hated me; this game scared the heck out of me, along with my other Christmas present, Clock Tower. Later on, however, I grew to absolutely love this game. Resident Evil 2 is one of the main reasons why I’m going to school for Game Design right now. I used to make maps of my house after becoming obsessed with the levels of this game, drawing imaginary secret passages to imaginary secret labs. You can say that this game has influenced my life, but the question is, how does it stand up today? Read the full story

Resident Evil 6: It’s a Secret to Everybody

It’s been over two and a half years since Capcom graced us with Resident Evil 5 (although some fans will disagree with it being a grace), and I believe it’s about time for some new information. Unfortunately, Capcom doesn’t exactly feel the same way, and all information regarding the sixth installment in the long running survival horror series has been shrouded in a heavy blanket of mystery. I’ve decided to go ahead and compile all (that I’m aware of) of the rumors, facts, and lies regarding the upcoming game in this one article. Hopefully, we will soon have more tangible facts instead of speculation. Read the full story

About Marooners’ Rock

Everyone grows up; this is how the world works. Just because we grow decrepit and old, however, does not mean we have to forsake the things that make us happy, childish though they may seem. This is the core concept of Marooners’ Rock; we geek out on the things of our past, present, and future. Society and cultural norms be damned!
